Danny McGowan – Chief Coach

A life member of the Scottish Swimming Association, Danny started coaching swimming in 1964, and joined Cumbernauld Swimming Club in 1972. His achievements include:

1978 – Scotland Coach Commonwealth Games, Edmonton, Canada;
1982 – 1986 GB Coach National Senior Squad;
1986 – Scotland Aquatics Team Manager Commonwealth Games, Edinburgh;
1994 – Scotland Aquatics Team Manager – Commonwealth Games, Victoria, Canada;
1994 – GB Team Manager European Sprint Championships, Newcastle;
1998 – Aquatics Team Manager – Commonwealth Games, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Currently employed as full time Chief Coach with Cumbernauld Swimming Club, Danny has been coach to several British and Scottish Internationalists and Record holders. This includes Jean Hill, double Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and finalist at both the 1988 (Seoul) and 1992 (Barcelona) Olympic Games.

In 1986 Danny was voted “Coach of the Year” by the BANC.
